iSIS Genus Display System
A flexible display screen system which links directly to the Finsoft MarginMaker2 EPoS
system
The iSIS Genus display system was originally developed by
2DB Limited for use by major bookmakers. Through a distribution agreement
negotiated by Consortium members with
SIS this system is now available to all independent bookmakers.
The iSIS Genus system manages a network of shops from a studio via
broadband links. These can be the same broadband links as used by
the EPoS system. Although the size of the studio is relatively
small the cost of setting up the studio and ongoing maintenance means that this solution is only viable for groups with over 40
shops. Thus smaller chains either need to take a feed from a
larger bookmaker or band together with other bookmakers to operate a
shared studio.
When the system is installed users are supplied with a basic set of
screen templates for display purposes. Additional templates
can be commissioned as required giving maximum flexibility.
However this is expensive and time consuming for an individual
company. The BTC have designed a set of screen templates which
can be personalised by each company. These templates will be
continuously updated and maintained by the Consortium for members.
By working together a high quality display system can be developed
at a fraction of the cost that would be incurred by an individual
company.

General Information about the iSIS Genus Display System
- The iSIS Genus Shop Receiver controls 20 screens, of these four can display live video.
The shop receiver can drive either VGA screens or televisions.
- Jockeys Silks can be added to the runners for UK and Irish
racing. These are provided by the PA and Consortium members benefit from a preferential rate.
- Each EPoS till gets its own ‘Showboard Browser’ which can be used
like a managers monitor. There is no separate managers monitor with
the Genus system.
- Up to 6 infrared wands can be connected to the shop receiver to centrally control freeview
boxes, sky receivers, etc. from the Studio.
- Each receiver has the ability to accept video from a number of
sources; freeview boxes, SIS, SIS+, TTV, Sky, etc. These sources can
then be displayed on the four video enabled screens. This is
centrally controlled by the Studio.
- iSIS Genus provides an effective solution to the problems of
migration to digital TV as it can use freeview boxes as a source for TV
channels.
- A customer information terminal can be linked to the system for
customers to find prices and results.
-
Multiview
from 2DB can be added to the system and will enable
multiple small screens to be shown on a large LCD
(similar to the results screen used by a national
bookmaker) but it is flexible
allowing 2,4 or 6 small screens and advertising banners.
- A digital poster system called
Promus is available
from 2DB and can be
controlled directly from the Genus studio software.
BTC can provide independent advice and assistance to bookmakers
considering this system.
